Ahmad’s Story
The 13-year-old Ahmad Manasrah, was waiting for the bus, had countless bullet wounds, at least one in his little neck. Settlers, soldiers, and policemen were surrounding him. An Israeli started filming in the background, shouting at Ahmad in Arabic, “die, son of whore… die son of 66 whores.” The same Israeli then taunted the child and repeatedly asked the soldiers to shoot him again. The ambulance crews, that were present on scene, refused to take Ahmed to hospital. Since when the Israelis care about our lives? The child tried to sit; his fear was blatant; no one tried to calm him down. Hardly did he manage to sit before an Israel policeman came and kicked him.
The boy kept trying to sit and looked around, hoping to find someone with a bit of humanity to help. He looked for a smile that could reduce his pain. Yet he was kicked again and again. He was crying, screaming in his little voice, asking for one response. There was no response. He was left to bleed for long.
A week after his arrest, new images of the young Palestinian in the hospital were circulated. Ahmed was handcuffed to his bed. His lawyer said that Ahmed was beaten and isolated. Only his lawyer was able to provide him with food, since he could not feed himself by his handcuffed hand, and no one else except his lawyer was available to provide him with food. Handcuffed throughout his hospitalization, he could not take showers and he could only relieve himself next to his bed. In the hospital he would further undergo ill-treatment: Handcuffed at all times, denied going to the bathroom, verbally abused, threatened by his guards and spat at. From the hospital Ahmad was taken to prison and to interrogation and we all saw the Harsh interrogation video.
Before his trial in court, he suffered long and violent psychological torture (visible through a leaked video) to force him to admit to the attempted murder.
The next day, on November 10, during his appearance before the court, Ahmed maintained his innocence. Still imprisoned, he could see his family only two hours since the start of the events.
It is a clear violation of his childhood and an injustice committed by the Israeli authorities on his innocence! Ahmad is not the only abused child behind Jail bars, 400 + Palestinian children are imprisoned to the moment, and Ahmad’s case is one of them.
Because we believe in the power of people, and we also believe that the world is full of people who stand with justice, and refuse to stay silent when crimes against children & humanity are committed while no one is doing anything to stop it!
And because Israel needs to understand that its obvious lack of respect for international laws and its violations of all signed agreements and conventions is unacceptable!
